In the beginning...
Northsouth Design is the creative brainchild of founder Lesley Moss and her husband Shaun, talented brand designers with roots in Essex and Lancashire.
Art director Lesley Moss came up with the name Northsouth Design as she freelanced for London marketing agencies, cutting her teeth designing for international household name brands such as, Anheuser Busch, Coca Cola, Esso, and Vodafone.
The name arose from Lesley’s many successful collaborations with her designer husband, Shaun, who hails from Lancashire. What with Lesley coming from Essex, Northsouth Design made perfect sense!
Lesley officially launched her company in 2007, with Shaun providing valuable behind-the-scenes support as a design and website collaborator.
These days, Shaun is a fully fledged Northsouth Design-er who brings experience working with major brands including Diageo, Unilever, BareMinerals, Charlotte Tilbury and Penhaligons.
Northsouth Design has grown steadily over the years. Not only have we expanded our client base and range of services, but we’ve also added to our friendly, professional design team, so we can offer our clients an even wider range of skills.
We meet our clients face-to-face wherever possible.
Our aim is always to guide you, step by step, through our design process, so that you feel comfortable not only with our results, but also the way we work with you. We also work closely with a trusted team of professionals when specialised skills are needed, such as copywriting, photography, SEO, and print suppliers.

Lesley Moss
Founder and Creative Director
A qualified and imaginative graphic designer with nearly 30 years of direct experience, I pride myself on the ability to get into people’s heads, translating their thoughts into compelling creative work.
I started my business because I’m serious about representing people and companies through great design. I most enjoy working with clients who can see the value in that, as it means they don’t mind answering my (many) questions!
I care deeply about every job, which is why I’m still doing the hands-on design work instead of running my company in the background. For me, there’s nothing better than watching a client’s eyes light up as they see their finished results.
I’m also passionate about collaboration in business. I co-manage the Rayleigh-based group Networking 4 Essex Women, as well as designing its materials.
Shaun Moss
Senior Designer & Web Developer
I bring the best of both worlds to Northsouth Design – a creative mind, and up-to-the-minute tech knowledge that helps create and maintain the websites we build.
These are skills I’ve honed over 27 years working as a graphic designer, artworker, and web designer for design agencies of all shapes, sizes, and sectors. During this time, I’ve worked on everything from branding identities and advertising campaigns to catalogue layouts, large format exhibition graphics, and digital media design.
I also know WordPress like the back of my hand. I’m the one who understands how to use organic SEO, and all those weird-and-wonderful things that keep websites running smoothly in the background, so our clients don’t have to.
I’m proud of my ability to work with clients in a friendly, immersive, and hands-on manner that spans initial concept to finished project. I’ve built many lasting relationships that way.
But I’m prouder of the fact that even though I’ve lived in Essex for more than 20 years, I’ve kept hold of my Lancashire accent!
Charlotte Bailey
Freelance Graphic Designer
I’ve got over a decade of graphic design experience under my belt, starting from my time with a local newspaper, designing small ads and feature pages.
This soon progressed to photography, editing and packaging design, and then working on logos and materials for large events, which I particularly loved! Social events are guaranteed to fire my imagination, and I’ve created favours and stationery for the smallest of occasions.
As you’ve probably noticed, my design background is pretty eclectic, which has only fuelled my passion for the industry. I love collaborating with clients, finding out what makes them tick, then immersing myself in creating the perfect designs for them.
(Oh, and hailing from Manchester, I fit the ‘Northsouth’ brief very well!)
